“Yeah I got it. I'm not at the club tonight. I had business elsewhere.
“Oh that's fine, I was just...” Jasmine paused, when she heard a woman's voice in the background.
“Drew, are you ready to order?”
“Give me a second,” Drew replied to the woman.
Jasmine hands began to shake. She had no idea hearing him with another woman would affect her so much.
“I'll let you go, I can see you're busy.” She tried to hurry off the phone.
“Jasmine!”
“Yes.”
“It's not like that.”
“You don't have to explain.”
“I know, but I'm still going to. She's a business associate.”
“I see.”
“No, I don't think you do.”
Once again, Jasmine didn't know what he was talking about.
“When you get to the club, give your name to the hostess. She'll take care of you and your friends.”
“You don't...”
“Jasmine.”
“Yes?”
“Please, do as I ask.”
Jasmine sighed before responding. “OK.”
“Thank you.”
“Goodbye Drew.” She hung up the phone, she didn't know what else to do. The images of him making love to some other woman were flashing in her head.
Chapter Fifteen
Come back to me.
W hen Jasmine arrived at the club, she once again used valet. To her surprise, Tessa was already waiting by the door, wearing a two-piece, black skirt set. Jasmine was almost certain it belonged to her.
“Well damn!” Tessa said. Her eyes roamed over Jasmine's gray-snake, mock neck dress. “Where have you been hiding that?”
“In the, Keep away from Tessa, part of my closet.”
Tessa playfully hit Jasmine's arm.
“Hello ladies,” the door man greeted them, as he held it open.
“Good evening.”
Together they walked over towards the hostess.
“Hi, my name is Jasmine Williams.”
The young woman eyed Jasmine, taking in her appearance.
“Right this way Ms. Williams,” she said with a smile.
Tessa shot Jasmine a quick glance, before they followed the hostess to the VIP section.
When they walked through the double doors, it was a whole another world. A soft melody being performed by a live band, echo through the room. The words sophisticated and refined popped into Jasmine's mind. The décor was sleek and high-class. There was definitely a lot of money sitting in the room, and it wasn't just the furniture. A range of conversations were being carried on. The sound of a woman's flirtatious laughter caught Jasmine's attention. She turned to find a pretty brunette and her lover, snuggled close together in a corner.
Jasmine thought of Drew, and the woman he claimed to be his business associate. Were they somewhere doing the same?
“Here you go ladies. Ginger will be your waiter, she'll be over shortly. Please order anything you like, everything is on the house.”
“Thank you.” Jasmine said.
Tessa elbowed Jasmine. “I'm liking Mr. Watts. You might have to keep him.”
Jasmine gave her a look.
“What's that look about?”
“Isn't that why you wanted to come here in the first place. And why you were so set on me talking to him.”
“No. Listen, I know I give you a lot of shit. It's only because I don't want you to be alone for the rest of your life. I love you, you're my best friend.”
Jasmine decided to cut Tessa some slack. “Alright, I guess I understand. By the way, where's Lisa?”
“She can't make it.” Tessa rolled her eyes. “She's too busy getting her feathers plucked. Something about her body temperature. Apparently it's mating time, over at the Avery's.”
Jasmine wished she and Drew were somewhere mating too.
“Where's Drew?”
“He's not here.” Jasmine turned her attention towards the band.
“Where is he?”
“I don't know. I don't keep tabs on him.”
“Ouch.” Tessa knew something was wrong, but she decided to leave it alone for now.
Just as Jasmine began to speak, they were approached by an attractive middle-aged man. Jasmine thought he looked familiar. He was tall, with dark hair and dark brown eyes. His muscular build told her if needed, he could clear the room. He was indeed a well put together, no nonsense kind of guy.
“Good evening, my name is Jake.” He held out his hand to Jasmine first.
Suddenly, she remembered where she'd seen him. It had been at the opening of the club. He'd invited them to the VIP section that night. Since then, Jasmine had learned of his role as head of Drew's security.
“Nice to finally meet you, Jake. Thanks for keeping me safe at night.”
Tessa looked over at Jasmine like she was crazy.
Jake smiled and turned his attention towards Tessa.
“Hi, it's nice to see you again.”
Jasmine didn't think Tessa remembered him. Men were constantly hitting on her, she probably had forgotten when and where they'd met.
“Oh, well thank you.” Tessa smiled and shook his hand. “I'm Tessa.” Their eyes lingered on one another.
Jasmine glanced around the room, as she waited for them to come back from la la land.
Jake tore his gaze away and looked back at Jasmine.
“Please let me know if you or your friend need anything. I'm at your disposal.”
“Thanks Jake.”
He nodded then turned back towards Tessa, and smiled before walking off.
“Damn! Damn! Damn! I need some of that in my life.”
“No Tessa.”
“Why not?”
“Because, he's head of Drew's security.”
Tessa frowned. “What does that have to do with me?”
“Have you ever heard of the saying, Don't shit where you eat?”
Tessa stared at Jasmine beady eyed. “Technically, I'm not.”
“Right, you're doing it where I eat.”
After a moment, she realized Jasmine's point.
“OK, OK.” She held her hands up. “I'll stay away from Mr. Secret Service.”
“Thanks.”
Not long after Jake left, Ginger showed up. For the remainder of the evening, they enjoyed the live music and atmosphere. Despite the circumstances, Jasmine was glad she came.
On Sunday, Jasmine went to the book store to catch up on her reading. She noticed that Rafael seem to be in a fantastic mood.
“What's with the big grin?” She herself couldn't help but smile at his pleasantness.
“I took your advice, I'm opening my own bakery. With the help of my cousin, and a loan from the bank, of course.”
“Wonderful!”
“Yeah, I figured I needed to put my talent to use.”
“Well, as soon as it opens, you got my business.”
“Thanks, that means a lot.” Rafael rubbed his hands together. “Are we getting the usual?"
“Yes please. Congrats again, I'm proud of you.”
She placed her things at one of the empty tables, and went to search for her book. After locating it, she came back to find a surprise danish and a mocha latte.
“I added an extra shot of espresso and whip cream.”
“Thanks.”
“No problem, it's on me. My way of saying thank you, to my number one customer.” She took a bite of the danish and closed her eyes. Jasmine could have eaten a dozen of them by herself. Rafael continued to stand next to the table. She took it as a sign, he wanted to say something else.
“I was wondering if you'd like to come over next weekend. My roommates and I, are having a get together.”
She hated turning him down all the time. “Sorry, my friend Lisa is having a cookout that weekend.”
“Lisa, she came by the last time, with your other friend. Right?”
“Yep, that's her.”
<
br /> Rafael shrugged. “Cool no problem, maybe next time.” He left, allowing Jasmine to read her book.
As Jasmine dove into the book, she couldn't help but notice the similarities between herself and the heroine. She was independent, straightforward, and single. Jasmine didn't mind sharing those characteristics, however, she didn't want to remain alone forever. She dreaded the thought of getting older and never experiencing real love.
Jasmine didn't want to sleep with every man she met either. She managed to make it to chapter ten, before calling it an evening. As she stood to leave, she saw Rafael sitting at one of the tables with a girl. Both displayed the, I'm so into you expression on their faces. Jasmine felt warm inside, seeing the two young people exchange awkward glances. Grabbing her bag, she headed towards the door.
“Jaz!” Rafael called out to her.
“Yes?” She walked over towards the table, that he and the girl shared.
“I'd like you to meet someone. This is my girlfriend, Rebecca.”
“Hi Rebecca.”
“Hi” With a nervous smile, the shy young redhead waved.
“I was telling Becca, how you inspired me to start my own business.”
“Thank you. I believe you're very talented.”
“I told him the same thing,” Rebecca said, nudging Rafael in the shoulder.
Rafael leaned forward and gave her a soft peck.
“Well, I'll let you love birds get back to each other.” Jasmine winked and turn back towards the door.
At home, she prep for the week to come, making her lunch and snacks. For dinner, she ate a piece of bake fish and a small salad. Flipping through the channels she became a little sad. For the first time in a while, she welcomed the idea of spending time with someone. Now, the rug had been snatched from under her.
Her normal routine was no longer sufficient. Nevertheless, it would have to do. She would eventually get use to being alone again. Until then, she had to endure the flashbacks. As she laid there watching television, she prayed for time to speed up. Jasmine couldn't wait until her thoughts were free again.

“No!.. Wait!.. Please come back!” Drew yelled to the female figure.
His bare feet dug into the cold wet ground, as he ran after her. When the entity stopped, and stood at the edge of the foggy dock, he was surprised. He continued his pursuit, hoping she would wait for him. He was only a couple feet away, when she turned around to face him.
Drew struggled to see through the fog, but somehow made out her face. “Jasmine?”
Before he could take another step, she fell back into the water below.
“Jasmine!” Drew jumped in to save her, but she was gone.
As usual, he was drenched in sweat, with a pounding heart and a migraine. All that was normal for Drew, however, having nightmares about Jasmine wasn't. Nina had been the only one, to invade his dreams. Pulling the wet shirt over his head, he threw it on the floor. He laid his head back against the pillow. He couldn't stay away from her. With his eyes close he waited for morning.
When Jasmine stepped through the front door of the clinic, she spotted Drew waiting in the lobby. For a moment she stood speechless and shocked by his presence.
“Good morning,” he said.
Jasmine observed the tiredness in his eyes. “Hi.”
She tore her attention from Drew, and looked over towards Mrs. Potts. who was watching them.
“Mrs. Potts, can you please hold my calls.”
“Yes, Ms. Williams.”
Jasmine walked towards her office and Drew followed. She closed the door, once they were inside. Placing her briefcase on her desk, she turned to face him.
“What's going on?” Jasmine noticed he was barely making eye contact.
“I wanted to apologize, again.” He walked over to the window behind her desk and stared out the blinds. “I shouldn't have checked out on you like that.”
Jasmine sat on the desk. With her hands in her lap, she listened and tried not to interrupt.
“There's been so much on my mind these days,” Drew said, coming to stand in front of her. He stared at her, with his hands inside his pockets. For the first time, all he could see was Jasmine. “I haven't experienced these emotions in a long time. I'm not the man I was ten years ago.”
Jasmine sensed Drew's distress, it was written all over his face.
“You have to let me in. I can't understand if you don't,” she said.
“What if I'm too complicated. I don't want to hurt you.”
His honesty moved her. Most men, would have tried to sugar coat the situation.
“What if you're not, and you don't.”
Drew reached out and caressed her face. “You astound me. I thought for sure you would be mad, and want nothing more to do with me.”
“I guess it's your lucky day.”
She smiled and Drew's eyes sparkled. Jasmine watched as he walked towards the door. At first, she thought he was leaving, but then realized he was locking it.
“Is there something else?” she asked as she got up from the desk.
When Drew turned around, she saw the smirk on his face.
“I wanted to see you.” He came back and stood in front of her. “I wanted to touch you.” He moved in closer, only inches away from her mouth. “I wanted to taste you.” His lips pressed against hers, while his hand caressed her breast.
Jasmine hooked one arm over his shoulder. She whimpered when Drew's lips moved to her neck and then behind her ear. She watched as he knelt down in front of her. His eyes remained glued to hers, while his hands crept up her thighs, to remove her panties.
“Drew!”
He placed a finger to his lips, then prompted her to step out of them. She looked on, as he tucked them inside his shirt pocket. Jasmine started to protest again, when he hiked up her skirt and placed her back on the desk. But she couldn't, her desire to have him inside caused her to remain quiet.
“Lay back.”
She complied while Drew got down on his knees. After placing her legs on his shoulder, he licked his fingers and rubbed them between her slit. Her wetness clung to them.
She arched her back.
Drew rotated the same fingers over her clitoris, causing her to tremble. He slid them back inside her, plunging them deep.
“Mmm!”
Spreading her lips, he licked her opening then sucked gently. A louder moan escaped her mouth, before she could cover it. His ravishment between her thighs, was pure gluttony. The probing from his tongue, made her lose all thoughts of anything else. Jasmine found it difficult to hide her enjoyment. When he stopped she was disappointed.
Drew stood and grabbed her hips, bringing her to the edge of the desk. He eyed her intensely while unzipping his pants. With force, he pushed inside her and closed his eyes at the delectable sensation.
Jasmine placed her hands on the desk, and pushed back against him. She wanted him to go deeper.
Drew smiled. “Oh yeah?” He thrust again, then once more, giving her what she needed.
“Fuck! Yes!”
Turned on by her approval, he gripped her waist and moved faster. Jasmine didn't care, she willingly accepted every blow.
“Ahh!” she moaned out loud, still forgetting where they were.
At any second, Mrs. Potts or Avery could have walked in and caught them, but she didn't want Drew to stop. Jasmine bit down on her bottom lip, she could feel herself getting ready to come.
She mouthed the word Please, as Drew stared at her. Her legs began to shake, she couldn't hold back any longer. “Oh!” she cried out, as he continued to thrust while coming inside her.
Her body went limp, like a magnet she clung to the desk. Still panting, Drew pulled out slowly and helped her sit up. He kissed her lips and then her forehead.
The sound of their laughter filled the room. She waited as he fixed his pants, before taking her off the desk.
“Wow!” Jasmine saw the wet spot on her desk and covered her face. She pee
ked at Drew through her fingers, and he started laughing again. She couldn't believe, she let that happen.
“My underwear, please.”
Drew pulled the purple lace thong out of his pocket, and reluctantly handed it to her.
“Thank you,” she said before walking over to the bathroom.
After cleaning herself up, she wiped off her desk. As Drew walked towards the bathroom, a knock came at her office door.
“Jaz, are you OK?” Avery asked, while trying to come in.
Drew raised an eyebrow and looked at her.
“He's my business partner and friend.” She turned her attention towards the door. “I'm fine Avery.” She walked over and unlocked it.
Drew proceeded to the bathroom, while she opened the door.
“Mrs. Potts said a strange man, was in here with you. She was concerned.”
Avery walked in and scanned the room. Jasmine raised a hand in Drew's direction, as he emerged from the bathroom.
“That would be me. Hi, I'm Drew,” he held out his hand for Avery to shake.
“Dr. Grant. It's nice to finally meet you.”
“Same here.”
“My wife and I, are looking forward to you joining us this weekend.”
Drew looked at Avery confused.
“Jaz didn't tell you?” Both men turned their faces in Jasmine's direction.
“I was going to, I've been busy.” She gave Avery the death stare.
Avery detected the daggers. “Well, I'll let you two finish...”
“Actually I have to go myself, I'm late for a meeting.”
Drew walked over and gave Jasmine a soft peck on the lips.
“Are you really late?” she asked.
“Yes.”
She wore a smirk on her face.
Drew glared at her. “What is that about?”
“I didn't think you would ever be late to anything.”
He gave her another kiss, this time on the cheek. “Only when something else is more important,” he whispered in her ear.
Turning Drew nodded towards Avery. “It was a pleasure meeting you Dr. Grant, I'll see you this weekend.”
“Please, call me Avery and yes we'll see you then.”
Jasmine watched as Drew walked out the door, she didn't want him to leave. When she turned in Avery's direction, he was watching her.
